Eastern Counties Rugby Football Union are looking to appoint a forwards and Backs coach to join the Under 17 and Under 18 Programmes: The Under 17’s program runs through April and May and consists of 16 hours of training and 3 games against other CB’s and the Under 18 program runs through October to January and consist of 14 hours of training and 3 games which are assessed by selectors from London South East and England Counties Pathway Coaches.

Eastern Counties Rugby Football Union, Under 17 and Under 18 Programs: The Under 17’s program runs through April and May and consists of 16 hours of training and 3 games against other CB’s and the Under 18 program runs through October to January and consist of 14 hours of training and 4 games, 3 of which are assessed by selectors from London South East and England Counties Pathway Coaches.
The Post: We are seeking an enthusiastic rugby assistant coach to join our EB coaching team. The post holder will be flexible in supporting training sessions and matches through the county program.
Key Responsibilities:
• Together with the Head Coach, support the implementation of the vision & philosophy for the rugby programme
• Together with the Head Coach, build and deliver coaching sessions
• Undertake individual development plan reviews for players in the programme
• Undertake appropriate administrative tasks where appropriate
• Support Head Coach in player recruitment and assessment
• Contribute to team meetings, including debriefs, strategy and planning meetings
• Form strong working relationships with players
• Report any concerns or issues to Head Coach
• Sets high standards of personal accountability, reliability and responsibility for the players and coaching team
Essential Criteria:
• Excellent communication skills
• Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently
• Hold a minimum of an RFU / UKCC Level 2 Coaching Qualification or its recognised equivalent (ERCA) and looking to progress coaching craft to prepare for the ERACA (Level 3)
• Excellent knowledge, understanding and practical experience of developing rugby union coaching plans.
Desirable Criteria:
• Experience of working with Under 17 or Under 18 elite players
• Experience of being a backs or forwards specialist coach
• An appreciation & experience of different coaching methods
Terms of Employment Tenure of post: One - Year/Season
Hours of work: 2/6 hours per week during the programme
