at Stowmarket on Sunday
9 sides took part in a competitive but friendly spirit, and fantastic atmosphere that highlighted all the things that are good about our game.
Each team played 4 others to determine a “batting order”, with only Woodbridge and Peterborough remaining unbeaten; many games were very close indeed.
In the Plate competition Woodbridge B beat Ely in one semi, with Ipswich just beating Huntingdon in the other. Ipswich won a close final.
In the Trophy competition Woodbridge beat a resurgent Hadleigh squad by 24 points to 19, with Peterborough overcoming a Stowmarket squad, a great achievement for a club that had been unable to field a colts XV this season.
The first half of the final was close, but the splendid Woodbridge squad put on the burners in the second half to defeat a gallant Peterborough squad by 7 tries to 3, to claim the Brian Borges Cup
A fitting end to a great season
